Terms of Service
Last Updated: 2026-07-09
1. Service Description
GreenLit is a security scanner that analyzes GitHub repositories for common vulnerabilities. It provides informational reports and does NOT constitute a professional security audit, penetration test, or guarantee of security.
2. Critical Disclaimers
⚠️ NO WARRANTY · NO LIABILITY
- GreenLit may miss vulnerabilities. The scanner is not exhaustive and cannot detect all security issues. Absence of findings does NOT mean your code is secure.
- False positives occur. GreenLit may report issues that are not actual vulnerabilities. You must independently verify all findings.
- Not a substitute for professional review. GreenLit is a tool for development awareness only. For production systems, conduct professional security audits.
- No warranty of accuracy. GreenLit is provided "AS-IS" without any warranty, express or implied. We do not warrant that the scanner will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.
- No liability for damages. GreenLit and its creators shall NOT be liable for any damages, including lost revenue, data loss, business interruption, or consequential damages arising from:
- Missed or undetected vulnerabilities
- False positives causing unnecessary changes
- Security breaches or data loss from relying on GreenLit findings
- Your use or misuse of the service
3. User Responsibilities
By using GreenLit, you agree to:
- Conduct your own security reviews and audits
- Not rely solely on GreenLit for security decisions
- Verify all findings independently before taking action
- Only scan repositories you own or have permission to scan
- Use GreenLit for legitimate purposes only (no malicious scanning)
4. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: In no event shall GreenLit's total liability to you exceed the amount you paid for the service (currently $0 for free scans). This limitation applies to all claims, whether based on warranty, contract, negligence, or any other legal theory.
5. The Badge & Verification
The GreenLit badge indicates that a scan was performed, not that your code is secure. Any tier (Scanned, Passing, At Risk, Failed) represents scan results only and does not certify security.
Third parties should NOT rely on the badge as proof of security. The badge is informational only.
6. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the service (including removing scans, badges, or accounts) at any time for abuse, unlawful use, or violation of these terms. You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account and data at any time.
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Severability & Contact
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect. Questions about these terms: support@greenlit.cc
